Weekly Holy Moly Report — Lake Chelan Kokanee

For this week's Holy Moly Report we got to cover some ground in Washington State.  Fresh and Saltwater, big and tasty to small and feisty.  This last weekend had it all.  Starting with Saturday I got the invite to head eastward with my buddy Sean to chase some Lake Chelan Kokanee.  We started at 2:30am Saturday morning and headed over the pass.  Arriving on the lake just after sunrise we began searching for the Chelan silver bullets.   Fishing wasn't red hot to start out with and frankly it was a tough bite all day as the fish were spread out.  But...

Day two saw another absolutely perfect day on the water.  Flat calm and clear, which meant for a great time.  We got on the water at 4am and began searching for schools of fish.  We learned from the day before that a lot of the fish on the top 60ft of water were generally the 10-12" fish, we wanted to target the bigger kokanee and that meant targeting deep.  We set up two rods middle of the water column at about 80ft and our deep rods at 100-160ft.  Right away we got a few small fish in the boat.  Then...

Lake Chelan Someting Catchy Kokanee derby 2016: What an amazing weekend and fun derby to participate in.  Team Holy Moly was ready to go to work!  This was my first derby for the new boat and a first as captain.  I brought my cousin and another buddy and we were ready to see what lake chelan had in store.  The weather was absolutely phenomenal, no wind, flat glass calm and sunny.  And the fish were on the bite. What a busy week!  So excited to share this last weekend's trip.  I was finally able to get out on the water with my dad, and what a better place to travel to than Lake Chelan.  We packed up the sled for it's first trip for 2016 and first with all the new gear installed.  Big time excitement.  We got to the launch as the sun was peeking through the clouds.  I had to stop to just take it all in: The beauty of the scenery, being with my dad, new boat, and the thrill of chasing kokanee.   We...
