Weekly Holy Moly Report Feb 16th 2016

Cowlitz River Steelhead Weekly Report

What a great past week it was here at Holy Moly Outdoors.  Sportsman Show and a little fishing was the name of the game for the President's Day weekend.

The sportsman show was an absolute blast this year.  I got the great chance to take Donny with me as we ventured into the largest sportsman show in the northwest.  This show is the outdoor enthusiast's dream.  Fishing, Hunting, Boating, vendors, outfitters and great speakers/seminars are just a few of the things available to see and experience.  Some of the biggest names in the industry are there and provide a great chance to see what's new and learn the latest tips and tricks from the pros.

For me my show highlight was connecting with all of my prostaff partners, and friends both old and new.  I love getting to meet others and talk about why we love doing what we love to do.  But I definitely have a soft spot as well for the new gear and ideas hitting the market with each coming year.  Who can't have enough tackle and rods??

Xfactor Tackle introduced the new line of 10mm and 12mm single eggs.  These are game changers!

It warms my heart to see the Holy Moly name growing in it's out reach as well.  I cannot thank everyone enough for the on-going support for what we are doing.  It was great getting to see Mike Barr (pictured below) supporting his Holy Moly sweatshirt.  Even got to sneak a picture with Jared Johnson of Rocky Mountain Tackle.

Great show, and even better people.  Thank you Portland for another great event.

As for the fishing report, I got the chance to hop on board the Rotten Chum Guide Service boat with John Thomas for some b-run Cowlitz River Steelheading.  We were met with some not so favorable conditions with a slowly rising river and diminishing clarity due to the dam release that morning.  However this wasn't going to stop us from chasing these great fish!

I got the chance to test out the new Xfactor 12mm single eggs and let me tell you, I approve!  These look fantastic in the water and with the added scent, the applications are endless.  Jeff did a killer job on this!  Make sure to check these out when you get a chance

For the boat we were side drifting both yarnies and bait.  You can cover so much water effectively and with 6 guys the odds increase greatly for potential hookups.  And as such Gary was the lucky man for our trip with a big gorgeous fish on a pink yarnie.  This is what it is all about.

If you want a great guide for Steelhead, Salmon and Kokanee, check out John Thomas at Rotten Chum Guide Service.  I cannot wait to plan the next Holy Moly Outdoors trip with John.  Check out John's page at http://www.rottenchumguideservice.com/

Thanks for tuning in this week, God Bless and Fish On!
