We are one week away from the 7th Annual Lake Stevens Kokanee Derby and fishing has been pretty good lately.  I got the chance this last Wednesday and Thursday nights to do some fishing after work and had a blast.  Weather has been phenomenal with upper 70's and 80 degree nights, and fish on the bite.  This does bring about one challenge on this popular lake and that is recreational boaters.  I don't blame them for wanting to be out and enjoying the lake either, but just be aware and keep a safe eye out so everyone can enjoy the day. For this week's Holy Moly Report we got to cover some ground in Washington State.  Fresh and Saltwater, big and tasty to small and feisty.  This last weekend had it all.  Starting with Saturday I got the invite to head eastward with my buddy Sean to chase some Lake Chelan Kokanee.  We started at 2:30am Saturday morning and headed over the pass.  Arriving on the lake just after sunrise we began searching for the Chelan silver bullets.   Fishing wasn't red hot to start out with and frankly it was a tough bite all day as the fish were spread out.  But...

Opening Day for the lowland lakes in Washington is one of my favorite times of the year.  This day brings me back to my roots, being on the water with my dad when I was a kid catching fish and getting excited about the great sport I now know and love.  For me every opening day brings back those fond memories and the chance to make new ones.  Opening Day was made for kids and first time fishing inductees.  Thousands of trout await these anglers and the bite is fast and furious.  Nothing better than getting a kid their first...

Day two saw another absolutely perfect day on the water.  Flat calm and clear, which meant for a great time.  We got on the water at 4am and began searching for schools of fish.  We learned from the day before that a lot of the fish on the top 60ft of water were generally the 10-12" fish, we wanted to target the bigger kokanee and that meant targeting deep.  We set up two rods middle of the water column at about 80ft and our deep rods at 100-160ft.  Right away we got a few small fish in the boat.  Then...
